Previously married lady - what name does she use for next marriage?
« on: Friday 22 December 06 18:03 GMT (UK) »
Stuck!

When a woman got married and she had been married before, what name would she use as her "maiden" name - the name she was born with or her previous married name?

Ta!

She could use either ..... although I think most widows used their (1st) married name.

Hi Chris,

She would usually marry in her widowed name.

Another vote for widowed name.  I've traced quite a few potentially complex branches this way.

On the  few certs I have the widows have all used their "widowed" name not the maiden name and all have "widow" as their condition.
