KELLY of Kilbeacanty.
Julia Kelly emigrated to Australia in 1857 together with her elder sister, Mary, who had married Richard Summers and daughter Mary Summers. Julia and Mary both give their parents names as Thomas and Anne Cloonan and stated that they were both dead. Julia gave Kilbeacanty as her origin and Mary gave Gort (presumably having moved there after marriage).

I would like to know what information is on-line to trace the family. Are civil or church records available for BDM around 1837 (time of Julia's birth) or earlier?

Hi,

Civil records and church records are not online for Ireland. General registration for births marriages and deaths started in 1864 so you can only check parish records for baptismal data. The catholic records are available in the National Library in Dublin. There's also the Griffith valuation to check. See my website for some recommended links.

Good luck!
