Hi Tati,
Could you kindly look at the same family in the 1871 if you have it please?  Matthew would be single and aged about 25.  I need a clue to find Matthew in the 1881.  I think he may have accompanied his son Matthew John born 1873 who went to  Castleford by 1901

There is a marriage of a Matthew Sirgue to a Jane Hutchinson 9 August 1869 Arnold but mine certainly married Mary Ann Mellors 24 Dec 1871 Basford 7b 184.

Many thanks
Alex  :P

Ca y est - Genial, Tati.

Alas I can find nothing on Matthew 1846 or his son Matthew 1873 in the 1881 for Arnold apart from a Nottingham jailbird of the wrong trade and a Hawick FWK of wrong age and family.  Nor in Wakefield Yorks where a Matthew Surgey was married 3Q 1894 to Emily Daniel 9c 126 and 2Q 1900 to Mary Ann Ogden.  It must be a spelling mistake, though I've tried sur* / Sir* /Ser* without success..

Thanks anyway.
Alex
