Isabella Jobson - Aldbrough/Stanwick St John
« on: Thursday 28 December 06 10:05 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have access to parish records for Aldbrough/Stanwick?  I am looking for more information about Isabella Jobson who had an illegitimate son, Thomas (Christened 06 Oct 1822 Stanwick St. John - IGI entry).

I have been unable to find Isabella on any census - she may have married or she may have died.  I have all information on Thomas from census, marriage and death certificates.   On his marriage certificate, under father's name, is "illegitimate son of Isabella Jobson".

I know no more about Isabella, who is my 2rd great grandmother.
I'd be grateful for any help or information about her

Just came across your post whilst Googling Isabella.  I can see that you post this some time ago;  did you manage to get any information about her?  Isabella is my GGGGGrandmother so we seem to be related :-)

Many thanks :-)

Just came across this thread and was wondering if either of those who previously posted, had got any further on Isabella JOBSON.  She is my 4 x Great Grandmother and I am well and truly at a brick wall!

I have just come across this reply to my post from 06!  It would seem that we are related - you are right.  The only Isabella Jobson I have been able to find anywhere of the approximate timescale was born 09 Sep 1801 in Bishop Auckland to Thomas Jobson and Rachel Huntley.  There is a burial in Aldbrough for a Thomas Jobson in 1812 (as well as our Thomas in 1866).  They are the only 2 Jobsons buried there.  Don't know if any of this helps!
Linda

Hi Linda, thanks for that info; I will have a little look at the Isabella you mention.  As Jobson isn't that common a name, and her father is Thomas, there is a fair chance of a connection there.  Wonder if the Thomas buried in 1812 might be her father then?  I still can't find anything further about the alleged inquest into the drowning of Thomas so I think a visit to the Archives is on the cards.  I visited Stanwick-St-John a few weeks ago and that beck is so small, a drowning would be difficult...if i get there and find anything, I will let you know.
Thanks again,
Jan :-)

Jobson is more common further into Durham sadly, but as she is the only Isabella Jobson of about the right age, I feel it must be her.  If you find anything on Thomas, that would be great, thank you
