I believe this gentleman was my grandfather. He was employed as a corkmaker in a small island off the coast of Chile. I am the daughter of the late Salvador Vinals Vernal who was born in Chile 12 July1899. My father was of the second marriage of Pedro to Helen Cessford. He was the eldest of 7 children born of this marriage. Two siblings died in infancy - Isabelle and Evelyn.  My dad, along with his mother and siblings Richard, Victoria and Lillian (twins) and Frances travelled to New Zealand by sea some time around 1915. The family had left from England to make this trip earlier but my grandfather died of a burst appendix and was buried at sea.

My dad spoke with very warm memories of his step brother Ramon whom he lost contact with. He always wondered where he was and named his firstborn son after him. My dad passed away on 20 March 1996 four months short of his 97th birthday.

Hi Greco2

Welcome to Rootschat!  :D

Unfortunately we never did hear whether the OP was happy with the information that was found for him/ her -  :-\ - but it looks as though they were online today, so hopefully they will make contact and you will be able to discuss your family.  How exciting for you both!

You will need to make at least one more post before you can make or reply to Personal Messages but feel free to reply here in order to "qualify".  Please remember not to discuss living people on th open boards.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Thank you for your response. As the earlier messages are three years old I am aware the author may no longer be seeking information.
I am now wondering which side of the family they are from.
This looks like an interesting site and one which I will frequent often.
Regards,
Greco2

RE Cynthia Judd, Although she was born in October she tells me her birth was not registered until December 1912.

Hi Greco2

Thanks for your information, this is the side of the family I am interested in.
Frances was my Grandmother and although she is deceased now we are still trying to find information about the family.
I am trying to find out about Pedros first marriage and if there were children born of that marriage.

Ramon is a mystery to us too, I believe he is somewhere in South America.

Sorry I have been so late replying

Hi
I am the great grand daughter of Pedro Vinals and Margaret Hollingworth, who were divorced in 1907.
I have information on Pedro's family with Margaret.  Sadly I have nothing on Ramon.
Do you have a marriage date and place for Pedro and Helen Cessford?  I have been unable to locate that information.

Hello Jill

I have been unable to located any information with regards to a wedding between Pedro and Helen.
I suspect Ramon and Alfred are the same person.
I know that Pedro and Helen had the 4 children from his first marriage living with them in England.

Hope that helps you.
