trying to find a marriage possibly St James, Westminster
« on: Friday 05 January 07 03:25 GMT (UK) »
i am wondering if someone can try to see if they can find a match.  I have tried for hours trying different dates etc.

I have the childs birth certificate and the parents stated are William Wilson and Mary Ann Burton.

From the 1871 census RG10/147 ? 140 page 22. 28 Lomg Street. St Amme. Westminster, which someone kindly told me the detail i was able to work out that William was born abt 1815 Clevland, ? Stockton on Tee and Mary was born St James, Westminster abt 1826.

All the children were born in St James, Westminster so the likelyhood of the couple marrying there is quite high.

first child born to my knowledge is William born 1859
Then Sarah in 1861,
Mary in 1862
And Alice in 1865  All in St James Westminster.

Hopefully someone can help and try their luck  I guess the only other way is to try and locate them in 1861 and see if the birthplace is any different.

Hope i have supplied enough information.

The only other information is that they lived in 5 archer street, reg dist St James, Westminster, sub district of Berwick-Street in the county of Middlesex.

William in 1865 was a coachman, domestic servant.

Sherylbadger, It is worth noting that Mary Ann's maiden name may have been Burton, but if she was born in 1826, first child of this marriage born in 1859, it is possibly a second marriage for her.

Too many 'William Wilson, wife Mary Ann' marriages to look at in BMD.

I am going to work now, but the best way forward may be to trace Mary Ann Burton in previous censuses, from her locality, age and place of birth.  If no one beats me to it, I will take a look tonight (shift finishes 8:15pm, so don't expect an early response!!)

Not sure about this, but found this marriage but the volume letters are different.

William WILSON
Mary Ann BURTON

1858
Mar qtr
Strand

Vol - 1b or 1d
Page 438

In the written indexes one has 1b and the other had 1d, so don't know if they are a couple or a very big coincidence. :-\

I am wondering if this might be a clerical error somewhere and worth checking out.
