There is a marriage in Shipston on Stour in 1868 June Q and one of the brides was an Emily Sturch so this was probably a 2nd Marriage

Joe.
Lots of wives.

Jesse Summerton 1842 marriage to Ann Bowerman at Shipston.
Jesse Summerton 1854 marriage to Eliza Fisher at Shipston.
Jesse Summerton 1868 marriage to Emily Sturch at Shipston.

I think he died in 1894,  probably from exhaustion.

Thank you both Bob and Joe for your help. I thought that Mansfield would have to be the son of either my George or Gayton as their mother's maiden name was Mansfield and Gayton had that as his middle name as well and both were shoemakers by trade.
A deepening mystery with Ann the mother though. Need to do some checking as my Gayton and Ann COLLINGRIDGE nee HARDY weren't officially md until April of 1842 in Banbury then left to come here arriving Tassie, Oz in 1843 with no Mansfield with them. Gayton also had a son, Gayton Jnr who died at 6 yrs old in 1841 just after the census. No idea about 'mum' for him as she's not on the dth cert. Hmmm? More mystery for me to clear up. Fun!
Thanks again guys for the great help rendered. I shall look into this 'amorous' butcher Jesse...and leave any jokes about butchers there.

Ezekiel

Who is George? Do you have the 1841 census for Mansfield? Do you have his birth certificate in 1839 which should give his parents names?
Do you have the 1841 census for Gayton age 5 living in Brackley who could be the Gayton who died in 1841?

I cannot find the Gayton Summerton (that married in 1842) in the 1841 census. Another Gayton Summerton was christened in Much Hadham, Hertford in 1809.

Bob

ps If anyone can see the above 1841 census records it would be useful.
