archived topics and enquiries
« on: Tuesday 09 January 07 09:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi

As the weather is quite miserable and there is little else to do I thought I'd post this general inquiry.

How would a rootschat member find out if there is someone interested in the same information as them that has been archived.  I presume the live board must be 'emptied' of its inquiries every now and again as the information would be too much to hold.

For example if I was interested in looking at enquirers that are three years old how would I access them?

Yours J.A.

Hi Northerngirl,

The easiest way would be to use the "search rootschat" option.

Enquiry posts are not deleted on this site as far as I'm aware  :)  :)  :)

Hi Northern Girl,

That's right, enquiries are not deleted.  To make life a bit easier, and keep the unanswered queries easier to find, most county boards have a child-board: "Completed look-up requests" where the completed requstes are kept.

Moved, yes, but deleted, NO !

Hi Northern Girl -

Might also want to try "Your Surname Interests" if interested in a specific surname.

If you have lots of time on your hands you can click on "Show Unread Posts" and go to the bottom right and click on "All Unread Topics". Will give you all unread topics on Rootschat.

For a rainy day topic this all seems to be getting a little serious.  I have not used the word nor suggested that the information has been deleted.  I merely stated that the information was 'emptied' from the live forum !!!!!!!

Thank you for the information anyhow.
