Hi Tricia,

It's the uniform of the WRAF the Womens Royal Air Force.

Arf :)
I am sorry but my emails are not working.

Correction, it's the uniform of the WAAF (the Womens Auxiliary Air Force)not the WRAF.

They started out as the WRAF and then became the WAAF, changing back again to the WRAF in Febuary 1949.

This page has more info

Thank you very much Arfur, that was very quick!  Thank you for the link, I will read through that later when I return from work.

Would I be able to send for my mothers records?  I do not know her number, all I know is that she was 'stationed' in Aldershot - that is where photos were taken.

Thank you
Tricia

Yes, you can apply for her service record, a service number is desirable, but you should have enough personal details.

Have a look at this page, it will tell you how to go about requesting them;

Good luck,

Hi Tricia123

I'm sure Romilly won't mind me saying this, but as your Mom was a Second World War Veteran her records will not be at The National Archives.

If you Dad is alive he can obtain them free of charge from the link Arfur gave, if not sadly they come at a fee.

Bet that hairstyle too her hours when she first learned the trick  :D a wonderful photo  ;D

Wendi  :)
