Sorry Roger I only have a partial census for 1851 and it doesn't cover this area. I also have the 1861 of Derbyshire which covers part of Ellastone but doesn't quite stretch to Cotton, Alton and the such. You will have to post again.  All the best Anjo

Hi Anjo

Thanks for all your help.  I will now post a specific request for Benjamin in the 1861 Staffordshire census.

By the way what area does your 1861 Derbyshire census cover?

Take care

Roger
Thorpe (East Sussex), Wenham (East Sussex) Willett (East Sussex and Kent) Ades (East Sussex) Rushton (Staffordshire Moorlands) Finney (Staffordshire Moorlands) Wheeldon (Staffordshire Moorlands) Critchlow (Staffordshire Moorlands)

Hi Anjo

It has just occurred to me that there is a look-up that you could do for me if your Derbyshire 1861 census covers Ellastone.  According to my records Benjamin senior did not die until 1868 and he died at The Dale, Ellastone so he should be there in 1861.  Could you be a treasure and have a look for me.  He should be about 77 years old.

Take care

Roger
