Hi everyone, trying to find links on my fathers side of my family. Dad's name was Reginald James Sansbury, his father James Sansbury from the Isle of Man was an engineer on the IOM steamers. James Sansbury married a lady called Mary Jane, unfortunately i don't know my Grandmothers maiden name ...Help!!! My father was born in 1902. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Just found a snippet for Sansbury in      www.old-merseytimes.co.uk     which I got from the liverpool section.

In a "lost at sea" obits. is John Sansbury of Rushen IoM master mariner lost off Guernsey 5/1/1867 age 56.

Thank you Humphpaul for the info. John Sansbury we think, is the brother of my GG Father Thomas Sansbury. Again many thanks.

Would be grateful for any info on Elizabeth Sansbury and Rubena her sister. They were the daughters of James Sansbury and Catherine Curphy.

Sent a reply but can't see it displayed. When it arrives you will see that I suggested that you skipped a generation - not so - my mistake so sorry.

Third time lucky. Obviously doing some thing wrong. Keep it short this time.
Catherine Elizabeth and Robina Sansbury were daughters of James Sansbury and Catherine Burkitt. See 1871 and 1881 census for IOM. Also they had a sister Martha Burkitt who was born in 1874 and died in 1876 and a brother James born in 1867.

Robina married John Henry Cain and a contact on the IOM called them the NZ branch so I think they must have emigrated. No record yet of Elizabeth or James getting married. Doing one-name study of Sansburys on or from the Isle of Man but far from complete and probably never will be!
