I think that Mount Jerome will have the records you want. The address is on page 3 of this thread.

Hi Cando

I looked up William Kelly's burial in the Mount Jerome records:

Mount Jerome Burial Records 1881
Entry: #25
William Kelly
Buried: 5 Jan 1881
Age: 77
Brought from Finglas, Co. Dublin
Location of grave: Grave 10 in Area 182
Note added: "Will hold 1 more"
Attestant: Neil (or Will?) F. Kelly, son

I searched for the grave in Area 182 but couldn't find any trace of it. There was no Perpetuity Grant taken out, so there is no easy way of finding out the other burials in the plot. Also, there may never have been a headstone put in place.

Is the other burial mentioned (Davenport) of interest? If so, i will look it up when I'm next at the archives.

best regards

Oh thank you Gerry :)

I think the Attestant would have been O'Neil Fergusson KELLY 1858-1936 his youngest son.  Terrific.

Thank you so much for searching for the grave.  I am truly grateful for the time you have spent helping me locate this KELLY ancestor.

I very much doubt there is a connection with the DAVENPORT - name doesn't appear anywhere in the family tree.    You have done enough for me :)

Cheers
Cando

Hi Cando

Yes - it certainly looked like O'Neill - but I though that looked an unusual name and dismissed the 'O'N' as an elaborate 'W'. So, it's O'Neil F. Kelly.

There is a lot of open space in the old area of the cemetery where the grave is located - collapsed headstones may have been cleared in the past?

best regards

Gerry

this is for those who have discovered a family
grave with no gravestone,I've inverted the colour
and I think it looks well. Not really a substitute
but better than nothing.

Hi Berdina

McMahon is quite a common name here. There are two main branches - Co. Clare (my origins) and Co. Monaghan.
I've just looked up my 1884 Thom's Street Directory - at that time in 55 Sackville Street Lower (now O'Connell Street) there was a John Chancellor, optician and photographer, at this address (his residence was 2 Cromorne Villas, Rathgar).

regards

Gerry
