AVRI query - Owens/Richards wed in Cornwall, registered in Vic (Oz)

Hi all, I have come across this before in my AVRI, where someone was married in Cornwall, but registered in Victoria.
Was it common for people married in England to register this event in Victoria, or did they get married again in Oz?
The entry says:
Marriage - Meredith Owens to Mary Ann Richards
1868 - Place Cornwall
(Vic) Registration No. 3812

no  it  means  that they  were  born  in Cornwall


meridith  owens  was born merionethshire (thats how  it is spelt on  the  indexs)

mary ann richards was  born  Cornwall

The AVRI hasn't quite got it right with early Victorian marriages - as they do not show marriage place - but as described by Jenn - birthplace of the couple. Although the Vic indexes provide the birthplace of both of the marriage couple, the AVRI only gives one - gets tricky sometimes to determine which one

Hi Jenn and Trish, Thank you both for clearing up this puzzle, and the info that Meredith was born in Merionethshire - I hadn't discovered that fact yet. Good to know.
