Hi there,
I'm looking for anything on 15457 Private Arthur Jones of the 22nd Manchester Regt
I have a letter written by him (undated unfortunately) from the 11th General Hospital somewhere in Italy.

Any and all information greatfully received.
Thanks in advance,
Neil

Most of the 22nd Battalion numbers started 20 then 21 this was in 1915-16, so looking at the number he may have come from the 25 Reserve Battalion.

The 22nd moved to France in Nov 1915, in Nov 1917 thy moved to Italy until the end of the War.

If you get his MIC & post it, so we can see it has we have a lott of the medal rolls to the Manchesters on:

He was in the 24th (Oldham) Battalion (Pioneers) E Company 19th Platoon, if you go to the New Manchesters site & repost one of the lads will post the Platoon Photo for you.

At some point he was moved from the 24th to the 22nd both were in Italy.

I have him  down on both the Star & BWM-VM Rolls

There is a good book on the 24th Batt 'Cotton Town Comrades' by K.W.Mitchinson & I.McInnes  ISBN 1-873996-01-2
