  Hi Sandy.....

So it would seem, are these the correct children

             Mary            1773
             James          1775
             Alexander     1777
             John              1781

Hi Tazzie

All the above information seems to be correct.

All children of Alexander Smart & Ann Lord. No others between the years.

Sandy....No No No.... I haven't disowned you though hubby is now worried as there is the connection to you on his side now  ;D

No this has gone on in leaps and bounds since my great newspaper find on Saturday . All we knew about Albert were the details on his wedding cert. Now I know a heck of a lot more. Mum came over today and I showed her it all from the weekend she was amazed and a little overwhelmed ,she has wondered for so long and I have looked for her without any luck.

Haven't ended this one yet just on pause.I am desperate to get to the library in CMK and scrabble around the book's for more info and when I do I pass it on after all isn't that what rellies do ;)

The line I need to follow is Sarah Elizabeth Collins  as it's his mum ..as for dad I assume it's John Millard...and there is another Millard Collins marriages.....cant find it now :-\ so more info to come. Going to try the local reg'  office as well may have some luck there and quicker.

So have a good evening cousin ....ok distant granted..

  will speak soon

                       Tazzie :)

COLLINS FAMILY CONNECTION
« Reply #23 on: Wednesday 15 February 12 02:15 GMT (UK) »
Hello Tassie and Suzard, RE COLLINS FAMILY LINE.
I have just found your entries and have to tell you that I am family from NOAH COLLINS, who is listed as brother to Josiah.  Noah left England for Australia in 1848, age 19yrs.
I have been going through Census info to find out where the rest of the family are, and if they are still in England.

This is when I found all your chat from way back in 2007.
Hope to hear from you,
WoburnSands.

  Hello
 welcome to Rootschat.
Josiah & Sarah are my 3x great grand parents. I will have to look out the info that I have as I have not done alot of work on the tree for a while so I will post some bits for you.
Any questions let me know and I will help if poss. I still think it was amazing to make the decision to leave this sleepy little corner and head off to the other side of the world. Now its 24 hours on a plane but back then...
Its cousin Sandy who also has Collins connnections to the family so plenty of interest. Let me know what you need and I will get straight back.

Welcome to the Australian side of the Collins family.
I can tell you that the strength and love that Noah had for his family was unbelievable.
He had hardship but made a good life for all his children and his wives (3). I will organise myself with details and then you can ask me whatever questions you wish.  I am still going off to the State Archives obtaining further information as I have only been doing this side of the family for a short time.

My Father died in 2005 age 92, he also was the Dearest most loving Father anyone could wish for.  All the Collins men were and are a total delight with an excellent sense of humour. I have only found a photo of Noah and I will send this off to you when I work out how I do that. Noah was my GGG Grandfather also that makes us on the same line.

I am so excited to have an anwer back as I thought that after 2007 you might not be still doing your family history.  I had hopes that Sandy might see the listing as I noted Sandy had been online that very day.  I will keep everything a surprise for you and start you off on a very exciting voyage from Noah coming from Hogstyend to Sunny Australian and the Bush country where he was a farmer working the land. The voyage took many months lof difficult sailing,  Woburn Sands.

Hello Tazzie,
Thanks for your reply.  I did send another reply back but I think I have lost it somewhere in cyberland.  I am new to this so please excuse me if I am slow. Can you please tell me how to send a photo to you?
Some information for you.
Noah m Maria Hill 1850. Maria Hll/Cousins came out on the same ship as Noah, I cannot find her at Woburn Sands/Hogsty End.  I feel like the name Cousins might be her Mother's name.

John and Elizabeth gave Josiah the name of Joshiah Jackson after Ellizabeth's maiden name.
Maria and Noah had 5 children, Elizabeth, 1850,Sarah Maria 1852,John Reuben 1855-my Father's line, Mary J 1856, Amey 1858 MARIA DIED 1860.
Noah M Catherine McNabb 1862 - 3 children, Catherine 1852(!) Noah was married to Maria at this time. Catherine C 1862, Emily Lettish, 1864. I have ran out of room. Catherine born in 1852 died. WE have another wife in Agnes 1880, another 5 children. Noah was helping build Australia and that is what was expected of all the people who arrived here.

Noah owned an Inn called The Woodstock Inn, it was situated on a Toll Rd. where they had lots of drama and excitement with bushrangers and passing tradesmen. It was a very busy time as The Gold Rush was on and everybody was wanting to make their fortune.
Cheers WoburnSands.
