Hi again,

Would anybody be able to look up a Death for me? I'm looking for George John Kalthoeber. He died before his daughter Jemima's marriage in 1841, and probably prior to 1837, so this may be a paris register job.

Variant spellings of the name include:

Kalthober
Kalthofer
Kalthocber
Kalthof
kalthaber

Also, could anyone see if there is a will for this gentleman. I know his wife Elizabeth (nee Nye) died in 1858 in Brighton (death registered in Sep of that year). If it is possible, could anyone see if there is a will for her as well?

Thanks again for reading.

James

Hi James,
Which Sussex parish are we talking about here?  I have a few West Sussex parish registers on fiche.
Wills can be found online at  http://www.documentsonline.nationalarchives.gov.uk/browse-refine.asp?CatID=6&searchType=browserefine&pagenumber=1&query=*&queryType=1

If you find a likely one they can be downloaded for a small fee,
Jane

Hi Jane,

Thanks for the will site. I suspect the parish (forgive me if I'm still being vague) is probably Brighton, poss St Nicholas, but I'm not sure. I would have thought it was in Brighton though.

They were first married in London, and came down to Brighton, where some of there later children were baptised. The baptisms occured in Brighton St Nicholas.

Thanks again,

James

Hi James

I have checked the NBI2 and come up with only one Kalthober burial (none under any of your variants), but it wasn't in Sussex.  It must be related tough.  Here it is:

23 May 1853 William KALTHOBER 62 London   City of London, St Andrew Holborn

This doesn't mean that there is no burial in Sussex, only that it is not included on this index.  Have you tried looking at Sussex burials on:
http://www.familyhistoryonline.org.uk
This is a pay-per-view site (min charge £5), but each entry only costs a few pence to view.  Searching is free.
