(West Riding) 1841/1851 Census Lookup Requests Please For George Fawcett

Hi,

This is a long shot.

I am looking for information please about the person and family of George Fawcett born circa 1796 in Yorkshire. He has a son Charles born circa 1848 but I have no exact information about his birthplace.

Any information wouldbe greatly appreciated. TIA.

What info do you have about Charles to know roughly when he was born?

Hi Winston,

Charles died in Australia in 1905. His death certificate gives his birthplace as "Yorkshire".

I scanned births on FreeBMD and found a number in Knaresborough, Wakefield etc so plumped to check out the West Riding on the offchance he could be found.

As I said, it's a long shot. If something turns up..great, if it doesn't..I won't be too disappointed.

Do you know when your charles went out to Austrailia?

On the death cert does it by any chance state what Georges Occ was?

Hi Wendy,

He probably went out between 1884 - 1887. I think he was a painter but not sure if that means artist or decorator. The family were living in Perth when Charles the son married Mary Ann Jones on March 2nd 1887 at the Wesleyan Church in Perth.

When you searched were you only searching the West Riding? Just wondered if it was worth while putting in a search in the other two Ridings to see what turns up.

When the search is performed I choose just Yorkshire which covers all the ridings.

I even tried born all counties.

I try to limit the amount of info with in the search to give me a wider choice of people to look further into.

Now when I entered on the 1851 census that I wanted to look for a Charles bn circa 1848 with a dad called George there was one but he was born in Shropshire.


And here is the details for that one


George fawcett bn circa 1816 Derbyshire Occ Travelling Bookseller

Ann Fawcett bn circa 1827 Shropshire

Charles Fawcett  bn 1848 Shropshire

There were Charles's born in the right year and in Yorkshire but dad was not George.
