1939 inquest/newspaper look up please
« on: Sunday 21 November 04 20:57 GMT (UK) »
Is there anybody who would be able to do a look up (in a local newspaper?) for an inquest report?

Charles Anthony CHAPMAN, trooper Kings Own Hussars, stationed at Pocklington, died in a road traffic accident on the Millington to Fridaythorpe Road 8 Dec 1939.

According to the death cert., an inquest was held 11 Dec 1939 by the coroner for the Beswick district.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Try looking through the Hull Daily Mail, Hull Times or the Beverley Guardian. These can be found in the respective local history archives of the local libraries in Hull and Beverley. The Newspaper Archive in Collindale, London also holds these.

Another suggestion is to contact the Ministry of Defence for Charles' Army Service Record. For an Office or Soldier who served between 1921 and 1997 contact 0845 600 9663, they may hold details into the accident and death.

Hope this help
