Yorkshire Census Lookup 1851/61 - WOOD
« on: Sunday 21 November 04 22:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi!

I've got another request I'm afraid!

Would someone be kind enough to look at the census returns
(probably for the Hull area) to see if they can find the family
of William and Mary Wood.

William was a ship carpenter and in 1871 they were living
at 24 Beaumont Lane, Sculcoates. They had at least 3
children :
Susannah    b 1838   Thorne
Mary Ann     b 1841   Thorne
Eliza            b  1845   Goole

Hopefully someone will be able to track them down.

Thanks!

Ju

Hi Ju,

Lots of Woods on the 1851 census index for East Sculcoates but the following might be of interest

William   aged 40  born Cowick
Mary                42          Thorne
Elizabeth         12          Thorne
Mary Ann           9          Thorne
Elena                 6          Goole

1851 census HO 107/2361 folio 331

Hi!

Sorry that I haven't replied to say thanks for that info before now - the
only excuse I can offer is that I was new to the site then and not sure of
the correct protocol, but having answered a few lookup requests myself,
I now know how nice it is to have your work acknowledged! So thanks!!

It looks as if Eliza has been mistranscribed as Elena and in the 1871 census
Elizabeth is called Susannah Elizabeth, so all the details tie in.

I've since found William and Mary in the 1861 Census, living in Stainforth.
Unfortunately, Eliza, who would have been about 17, is not with them.

Best wishes,

Ju
