Did you notice William Butterfield was in the household as a lodger in 1901..with  2 x Henry & 2 x Susan

1911...Henery & Susan & son Henry...

The Hobbs immigrated in 1883...There's an passenger record for a Henry
Hobbs but it says he was born 1859 so likely not yours...

and Susan wasn't  registered until March Q. 1883 so she was just a wee
babe when they left England! & Just a little too late to be on the Toronto immigration listings, I guess...as they supposedly go up to 1883... J.J.

hi jj,
thanks again for those sites.i am pretty sure the family came from  cheltenham, gloucester [1881 census]
i haven't got the file out but ben parker was a few years younger than ellen,he was still in uk on the1901 census.his nephew[arthur john ross]went and stayed with an aunty?that had a boading house in the 20's[the story goes]
maybe it was ellen and her family, mother lived next door at one stage.

can't find when ben went to canada, have found his marriage and he went back to

 uk to sign up.dia.
will look up[try]and see about susan and william butterfield
