John 'Noyes' was baptised John Hope, although his father was Thomas Noyes.  Thomas Noyes was married to Mary Lea and had 10 children before she died.  Sarah Tarrant married Phillip Hope who immediately disappeared. She took up with Thomas after his wife died and produced 7 more children, one of them John.  Some of them called themselves Hope and others Noyes.
