I think the second Janet should be shown as G/Dau

Their 1861 entry on Ancestry has been indexed as Hearndon I think, everything else fits:

Everyone showing as born in Johnstone, except for Archibald who shows Kilbarchan, matching the info on IGI.

well done monica, i had that info for the 1851 census also but was trying to work back to the 1841 census.

i think mary berrie was the daughter of janet clark and samuel berrie

1841 census; thorn, johnstone.

janet craig...age 42
mary berrie...age 19...horattle framer
janet berrie...age 16...reeler in cotton factory
robert berrie...age 14
samuel...age 12

all born renfrewshire.

at the time of the 1841 census, there is an alexander stevenson, carter, aged 24 also living in thorn, johnstone. alexander is either the son of matthew or the brother of matthew which would make his parents james stevenson and jean morton.

I have Stevenson's and Lang's from the Thorn, Elderslie area in my family tree and would be happy to give you any info on them. 1841 Census has Robert Stevenson, wife Mary and a few children. MY grandfather Edward Lang was born in Elderslie.
