Thom family from Peterhead, Aberdeen

Hi,

I was hoping to find out more information about the Thom's from Aberdeen. Just now I have info about James Leith Thom (b. 21/11/1882) and his dad James Hogg Thom (b. 3/5/1845) and mum Jane Baird (b. 23/3/1848). James Hogg Thom's parents were called John Hogg Thom and Mary May. 

I would love to find out more infromation about the Thom's and would gladly swap information with others.

James Hogg Thom was a seaman according to his marraige certificate.

I am just reading over the info you gave me and putting it together with what I have got, but you said mary probably died giving birth to james however mary is alive when james is married in 1866! Do you think it is a mistake on the marriage certificate???

now al, william married jane buchan on the 20th jan 1842 in peterhead, so both were single on the 1841 census, it just so happens that william is living with his parents.

have never seen jean/jane transcibed as mary on any census returns my friend, and it is the only william that fits the bill on the 1851 census, will try a little harder to find them on the 1861
