Hi Richard and Valda,

Thanks for all your help on this one. I will get around to ordering Margaret Elizabeth Tillman death cert next week. Plus I will look into wills etc on her, hopefully gain some insight into her life.

Also I will look more closely on the Punnett side of the family. As for gaining info there on the Doust/Tillman and Lee's, just my dad, no surviving great aunts etc.

When I have got any more info will let you know.

Thanks again for all your help

Regards
Naomi

I would have thought as a bargeman, James would have been fine at Teddington.

ditto Gravesend, Wandsworth - depends where in Westminster, but they are all associated with the River Thames.

Since the children - full siblings as well as half siblings came back and forth to Teddington from Hastings as evidenced by their marriages, despite the 1891 alias which might just have been for the census enumerator's benefit it doesn't look as if James and Margaret were in anyway hiding from the Tillmans and there is no necessary reason to believe Margaret 'ran away'. She might have done she might not. The Tillman marriage may have ended amicably, or it may have been that Margaret's husband deserted her, as might be the case for Elizabeth Punnett.
The connections the full and half Tillman siblings seem to have maintained does not indicate 'bad blood' within their family or with James Punnett and Margaret. In fact quite the opposite.

Regards

Valda
