Once again Thanks JJ,

I'll have a look through. I really must try and be more organised. I jot references down on bits of paper with page no.'s and volume no.'s etc and then return later, puzzled as to where I found it.

I wonder where Austin, Ellen and my g-granddad Frederick died. I've been unable to find death records of them. My g-uncle told me he first met Fred and Florence in 1927 so they had to still be alive then (no kidding, lol). My uncle married Fred and Florences daughter Marjorie b.1905.

I'll keep on trawling through the records that are available to me. I had a bit of a breakthrough the other night when I found Giovanni's (Austin's father) burial record. I've been ringing Sheffield offices today, trying to find out whether the grave still exists -

buried 14/08/1870 in R.C ground; grave no.13, Section N of St. Michael's RC Cemetry, Rivelin, Sheffield.

It seems that St. Michael's is not an actual church, just a cemetry. I also found that Caroline (Austins eldest sister d.aged 35yrs) is buried in the same grave as Giovanni, but no trace of Sophia his wife (my g-g-g-grandma).

The plot thickens!

That is unusual, as didn't they die within a year of each other?

By the way, did I tell you I found a Beeny?...Knew that you wanted another spelling... ;D J.J.

No JJ you never mentioned you'd discovered another spelling - silly me I thought we'd found them all  ::) Who did you find under that spelling and in what year? I thought we'd established that it was spelt correctly after 1862.

Yes Sophia died in 1869, Giovanni in 1870 and Caroline 1873. Maybe if I go and visit the Rivelin cemetry I'll find Sophia in with the other two. BTW another sister died (Giovanni's 2nd eldest child) Teresa (sometimes spelt "Th" wouldn't want to make it too easy afterall) d 1862 aged 21-years.

I got some great lists of bmd's from links you gave me the other day.

Thanks M  ;D

Oh, good gosh, it would be spelled differently every time...it's just that there were more found with correct spellings within those years...

I think I saw Beeny on the 1901 when I was looking for Frederick Bi* and Be* born circa 1881...but couldn't even find HIM...

Hopefully when you order those certs you will find many more answers (and questions, also, I am sure...) :D  J.J.

Oh, yes, I also forgot Beeney ;D

Hi JJ

I've just gone on to the ancestry freebmd website that you pointed me toward a day or so ago and it offered me THREE FREE DAYS!!!! so looks like I'll not be getting much sleep over the next few nights.

I'm just searching for Beeny. Then I'll try some of the others.

Phew!  :o

Onward and ...onward???

3 days free...it's still available, is it? Wonderful...have a ball!

don't use "exact" search and it should search for a good lot of them just using Bini to start with as it is supposed to be a phonetic search......write down the ones it seems to be searching under that search and then try another after you are finished....should save a bit of time...J.J.

Now you tell me (lol)  :-\

I've gone through about 300 with a phonetic search under the name of Beeny. That's how we were told to pronounce Bini.

Oh well this could mean divorce, he's already complaining he's a "computer widower" ;D

I must've searched over 80,000 names including shipping records.
I've found yet another misspelling of BINI in 1901 census. Giovanni's eldest son, Angelo, aged 57 and his name is spelt Angels G. BINE.
As Angelo was a solicitor's clerk and for some reason the actual census form keeps coming up blank, I can only assume that the transcriber couldn't read very well.
I've never worn glasses before but after all these names my eyes have gone funny.
