Problems for users of BT as an ISP accessing RootsChat
« on: Monday 26 February 07 18:29 GMT (UK) »
I've just been contacted by fellow rootschatters (using BT as an ISP) who are unable to access rootschat.

Are other people on BT having similar problems? If you are on BT and have been able to get in, please share your secret.

Hi Julian  :)

Are other people on BT having similar problems?

YES - I'm in contact with someone in the same case - unable to access today at all.

Will post if they find a solution* or an idea ...

*edit: err... yes, I'm a little thick :P ;D ... Of course they don't need me to post the solution if they find it

Just copying and pasting from their mail:

After investigation, it seems to be a DNS (Domain Name Server) or Transport problem – as Rootschat’s URL cannot be resolved to an IP Address by PING or TRACERT when using standard BT BroadBand …..

If people want to compare their DNS Server IP addresses they can obtain them by running IPCONFIG /ALL in a DOS Command Window – ie type it in the window opened when START->RUN is clicked …

Think I have the same problem see

Think I might keep dial up going so I don't have to be without Rootschat  ;) ;D ;)

I have been having problems intermittently today too.  Will speak to my resident expert about it now that it seems to be a problem specifically for BT ISP users.
