Hi Tabitha were your family relieved when you found a live relative on the net? Mine think I am totally strange searching for Dead Relatives so when I finally found a live one they almost paid attention to me.
Found three so far, one from Lancslist, one from Googling a dead relatives name and coming up with an article on Wigan World about him by something like a third cousin and the last - well I did the old fashioned thing and sent letters to all the people in my home town who have a certain surname - its a rare name so I only sent ten letters.  Got three replies and one turned out to be my relative (yeah) she and I have exchanged lots of photos and information.  Got that idea from my dead uncle Ernie who died in 2000 - but I saw his research into the family he did in the 80s all by the mail!  So I thought why not?

Frances in the Yukon - its minus 40degrees here - yes the weather outside is frightening! :)

Wonderful Tabitha,
I found (well in truth they found me) my long lost rellies in Perth Oz on Genesconnected, and now we have a daily chat  via email, and they rang me Wednesday morning out of the blue...super.  Also found another rellie in Sydney on Genuki Cheshire Names site, who came over last year, and we had a wonderful day together visiting the villages of our births.  It's as though we have known each other for ever. So I know how thrilled you must be, it makes you all tingly.

Hi Hall,

My husband thinks I'm mad most of the time but does try to be enthusiastic when I find a living relly!!!

Since my post here I've found another cousin in Michigan, so hubby thinks I've really lost it now making him listen to all emails I receive with cousins news and info etc!!

Still it makes it all worth while knowing you're not the only searching a particular family.

I agree with Su...it makes you all tingly!!!!

I found five living cousins in 2004......all on my husband's side! Not one single, solitary person seems to be researching my family!!!

(They were all responses to messages I'd posted at either  Ancestry.co.uk or GenesReunited.co.uk)

I hope 2005 is yours and many others lucky year on the living relly front!
