Hi, I work in the graveyard where Major James McConnell is buried.  I have often wondered about it given the Punjabi regiment.  I can give the details of the grave etc if anyone is still interested.

Thank you. I have replied to your message. James joined the Indian Army before WW1 and served until the mid 1930s. He was at one time on the Governor of Hongkong's staff A couple of yesrs ago i was able to get his service records from the British Library. He died quite young.
He is buried in his wife's family plot with the Crenshaw. His daughter is also there. She was only in her 20s when she died, she was a teacher.

He was married and had a daughter - we think that he died with a stomach complaint and then the wife and daughter died young in Ireland.  No other clues!
