Meyre, Myers, Meyers...!

Is anyone else researching these names, or other variant spellings?

My lot are reputed to have a connection with Heligoland, but the furthest I can get back is Archibald Meyre, b.c 1815 in Scotland (taken from 1851 census in Wetheral, Cumberland).

....and if anyone knows where he's buried I'd love to know! Having married in 1835 (Margaret Bulman) he fathered at least nine children before disappearing from any official records I can trace - and Margaret re-married in 1857 to a dancing teacher (? ) called Francis Birkett!
