Hiya Karl

Do you have any more details?  How did you come to know that Richard England is your GGGrandfather?  If you could give us more details i,m sure someone could come up with something.

i know from the family bible. in the family bible he is listed as marrying frances speck in great grimsby in 1874 (the year they left for nz) so i located the marriage info via the lincolnshire family research website. anyway on the transcript i received richard is listed as a widower. i know that in the 1851 census richard is not in grimsby so i searched the yorkshire bmd for marriages between 1859 (when richard would have been 14) and 1873 this came up with two possibilities: emma sowden in otley in 1859 and charlette mcclarence in sculcoates, hull in 1863. so i am trying to eliminate one or both from my search. ultimately i want to know at what age he was married for the first time, how the first wife died, were there any children, was this influential to richard forgoing england for an uncertain future in nz.
as you know the more you find out the more there is to find out
