Sarah Jane Mitchel

I am looking for information about my great grandmother Sarah Jane Mitchel. she was married in Banbridge c Down in 1857 to Thomas Stenson. I have all the Stenson info and know that by 1861 they were living in Liverpool,but cannot trace Sarah's ancestors. She was b c 1841 and was living in Banbridge and was I think born there. Her father is down as Hugh Mitchel--a tailor. If I could find her birth certificate or registration I might be able to find out who her mother was and more about her father.
I would be grateful if somebody could suggest where I could look please.

Eileen- first of all, welcome to Rootschat.
Civil registration of Irish births (and deaths) did not begin until 1864. Therefore, you need to locate church records (which may or may not still exist). To find church records you need to know religion and area and then do lots of searching.
