Irish Newfoundlanders - from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roman Catholic Religious Orders and Education - The Presentation Sisters and Sisters of Mercy.

The Benevolent Irish Society (BIS) is a philanthropic organization which was founded in St. John's, Newfoundland on 17th February 1806, a month before the Feast of St. Patrick.

The Irish Parish Records Collection, 1671-1900 at the Maritime History Archive, St Johns, Newfoundland, is on forty one reels of microfilm. It consists of copies of many Roman Catholic parishes in counties Kerry, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Donegal, as well as many Church of Ireland parishes in counties Cork and Waterford. There are also vestry books for two parishes in Co. Clare: Castletown Arra and Killaloe. The main concentration is from 1750 to 1880. www.mun.ca/mha/holdings/parish_irish/index.php
