EVERY ONE A GEM !!. Been watching this one with interest, and so have quite a few others it would seem. Tomkin's coloured ones are fantastic. Colours look so natural, I can't figure out how they're blended so accurately.

I've only just seen this thread. What a wonderful photograph.

We have some in our local collection like this but from the West Coast - more women and the  boys are older  :D  My immediate thoughts were circa 1900 - give or take 5 years or so which I see Old Rowley has also suggested.

I've been to Crudden Bay, Denn  :) When we lived in Aberdeen.

As Seonaid believes the oldest chap seated in the middle to be her g-grandad (1842-1927) I'd guess that he's into his 60's making the photo around the early 1900's.

Not sure if you are aware but there are photos and comments of Andrew Duthie on Facebook page ‘Cruden Bay memories’. Old photos with his nickname ‘Kilty Onzie’???

Perhaps if you join this page and ask for more info on him, members on this page may be able to help.

Interestingly my great ancestors lived at 3 Green Street Cruden Bay too. In fact my Great Grandfather William Phillips died there too (1945)

Not been as regular a visitor of late, so I have only just seen this pic. Its very much in the same style as one of my favourite photographers of all time, Frank Meadow Sutcliffe. LINK
