Royal Artillery in Woolwich 1873
« on: Sunday 11 March 07 15:29 GMT (UK) »
Can someone be able to tell me which battery of the Royal Artillery was based in Woolwich in 1873. How can I get the military ID of a person that was serving as a gunner in the Royal Artillery in 1873 in Woolwich so I can order his military record?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alain

Alain,

Any surving records for your man will be in the National Archives at Kew.
Records are arranged alphabetically and kept in boxes which you have to look through.

I see you are in Canada, you might try a request either here (start a new topic) the Common Room or on the Wanted Boards of Rootschat, some kind soul may be going to Kew and might be willing to take a look for you.

Hi Suey,

This is great news as I will request help. Which board do you suggest? Common or wanted?

Thanks

Alain

You could start with the Common Room as more people are likely to see it there - a moderator will move it for you if they feel it will get a better response elsewhere

Good luck
