Yes, I had found the GENUKI link you sent, it was very helpful.  Also, thanks for the marriage of George to Mary, I hadn't got that.
George Foot (1821) is my 2x great grandfather on my mother's side.  His first born child, Mary (1855-1934) married Richard Whyte 5/7/1881 at Portsmouth.  Their second born child, Mary Ellen (Doll) Whyte ( my grandmother 1885-1955) married Raymond Bravery 7/9/1912, Portsmouth.  My mother, Peggy Mary Doris Bravery 1924-1978)

I would love to hear more from you & exchange information

Ha that makes you 3rd cousin to my husband!
He is descended from George Edward(s) Foot born 8 Feb 1862, now from these postings I know why it WAS Edwards, his granny's maiden name

George was a private soldier 35 Regt of Foot at Chichester barracks in 1881, he goes on to marry Alice Lovegrove in September 1886 on the Isle of Wight. In 1881 Alice is servant at Lumps Lane Fort - Alice was born 1857 I-O-W.

Their son Albert Thomas Foot born 4 Oct 1898 died 1941 is my husband's grandfather.

I got a lot of info from Debbie married to a descendant of Harriet Foot born 17 March 1864 sister of George Edwards Foot

Hi Jane,
Well, well, well, so nice to find someone researching this family, I think it's a first, for me at least    So George (1862) was my grandmother's (Mary Whyte) uncle.  I know that Mary Foot (1855) George's sister was known within the family as Polly.  Did you find a baptismal record for Richard Foot?  He says from census information that he was born about 1797 in Lymington, Hants, but I've not been able to confirm it, therefore do not know who his parents were.  It would be nice to push it back another generation!
I have written the Foot information up in book form so I'd be glad to pass that onto you.  I'll PM you my email address so that you can contact me & I'll send it on.

Am off to Winchester tomorrow to explore info in the Hampshire Record Office.
