Thanks Chopsuey, I did find the information about Joseph through another Beazley relative, I appreciate your help. We are still trying to sort them out. I believe that the Ann is the daughter of Joseph and as far as the spelling goes - well here in Australia their names change spelling quite a lot.
I don't quite understand what you mean about William getting the best deal, but the run around? Also I got the papers from the Archives but they didn't give me any further information as to why he received a pardon, just that he did (that was disappointing
because from what I understand that was just about a miracle back then to get a pardon). Anyway thank you again for your help. Kind regards Tracey.
Hi, If you have a look at the 1851 census you will find Joseph Beesley in the Wycombe Union Workhouse aged 77 occupation is shown as papermaker although he is now listed as a pauper. Shows him as born Woburn. There is also an Ann Beesley listed aged 57 and she is shown as being born on the sea. Relationship not shown, but appears to say unmarried, so perhaps daughter. The 1841 census shows him at the Bledlow District Workhouse aged 65 born in Buckinghamshire. Here Ann is shown as 65 also and there is a Thomas Beesley aged 80. They are shown as not born Bucks, shows they were born Scotland or Ireland, but this may not necessarily be so as I find the ticks can get carried away.
That is all very sad isn't it. I can't find a connection to my Beazleys, but could well be as I am convinced that in spite of the spelling, most are descended from Beazleys of Noke Oxfordshire. Re Alfred, he is actually shown as also receiving 7 years transportation, but can't find him in Australia. Are you sure his sentence was overturned or he may have been sent to USA. Sounds as though William got the best of the deal although he got the run around also.
