GORE - Stogumber - 1841, poss.1851
« on: Thursday 15 March 07 17:42 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone might be able to check the 1841 and poss. the 1851 for my 5x gt grandparents James and Sarah Gore.  They should be in Stogumber.  I believe she may have been born in St. Decumans abt 1873.  I don't know about him.... but would love to.

thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.

Thanks Alli,
My guess about Sarah being from St.D was entirely based on having spotted these marriages/births.  I love that these registers are transcribed on line.  Wish I had some substantiating evidence for thinking that James/Sarah marriage was the right one.  I have looked around the area and can't see another one but I think it will probably bear a little more research.

Thanks so much for your help & interest,
Have a great weekend,
Louise

For Louise (Icsnor):

I just ran across this posting from 2007 about James Gore of Stogumber. I have quite a few details of these Gores (my maternal ancestry). I gather from your posting that you are descended from James and Sarah's son James Gore (b 1798, Stogumber) (he married Mary Gunningham in 1820). I have details on his life (bastardy bonds etc).

Hi Darryl,
Thanks for your message.  Yes, James & Sarah were my 5x gt grandparents.  Do you have anything at all in your records that confirms that Sarah was Sarah Farthing who m. a James Gore in 1796 in St Decumans? I'm very tempted to believe it's the right marriage but don't like jumping to conclusions.
I would be very interested to share information & will send you a personal message.
