Edward Fradley's death 1853 Hanging Bridge
« on: Friday 16 March 07 12:31 GMT (UK) »
Looking for Edward Fradley who married Elizabeth Oakden on 20 May 1853 but appears as "deceased" on his sons birth cert in Dec same year. Therefore his death was between May and December 1853 in the Hanging Bridge, Mayfield area.
Where can I see the Parish records for that area ?

Hmm ... I have looked through the full death indexes for 1853 and there is no entry for an Edward Fradley.

Nearest is in Oct/Nov/Dec quarter 1853 for an Edwin Fradley, Uttoxeter Reg Area, ref 6b 1?1

Many thanks for looking, I have the birth cert for Edwin but he was just an infant. Edward has been evadeing me for two years, if I can tie him to the Edward (his son I hope) born 23 Dec 1853 it will give me the missing link back to 1720 ish.

This man got married on 20 May 1853 but doesn't seem to have been born or died, he's a mystery.

Thanks again for taking the time to look

regards

Terry

If it helps at all, there are two Edward Fradleys baptised in Staffordshire in 1830 shown on the IGI. No others within the right time frame - although of course that doesn't prove there weren't any.

One was baptised at Kingston to Thomas and Ellen. The other at Sandon to John and Martha.

They are both recorded with their families in 1841. I think someone has found the Kingston family for you on a different thread, and also the Kingston Edward Fradley as a farm servant in 1851.

The Sandon Edward Fradley appears in later censuses naming his birthplace as Enson, Henson or Stafford.  Enson is a small settlement near Sandon.  His wife is Mary, so I should think the Edward Fradley marriage in 1858 you will find on FreeBMD with a Mary Stanton on the same page would be this couple.

Sorry I can't find your Edward's death but,  at least,  it looks as though he is the Kingston one.

Many many thanks for your time and efforts, I know from the marriage cert that the father was Thomas so that points towards Kingston but its just proving that last piece of the puzzel. If I can find his death, grave etc in the Hanging Bridge, Mayfield area it may help.
thanks again

Have you got Elizabeth in 1861 as a widow? (or remarried) - that would add confirmation that Edward did actually die!
With no death registration in the right time zone I am beginnig to wonder

Yep - but something is not tying up.
Maybe he had run off and left Elizabeth very early in the marriage and she said he was 'deceased' and continued her life as a respectable widow, rather than own up to being deserted.  It has been known

Another thought - did the son of Jan 1854 have any younger siblings (again finding the family on 1861 will help) if so what do their certs say about their parentage?
