Arnot of Aberlady.

James Arnot married Jean Trotter 1758 at Aberlady, East Lothian, he died in 1820 aged 103 most of his Descendants were farm workers.

1881 census shows 1 of his Descendants a John Arnot (Head engine driver) living at 7 Violet Bank, South Leith, Edinburgh.

Any info please.

jacobina 18/1/1767

both born in aberlady

martha 26/5/17791

showing on the igi's as daughters of james and jean trotter.

the free 1841 census on freecen for east lothian shows a 80 year old isabella living in aberlady.

Thanks Joe, they are part of my family tree, the big problem I have been having is with James Arnot, I cannot find his birth year I have evidence that he died in 1820 at 103 years old, that means his birth year should be 1717 but have been unable to confirm it, anyway thanks again for filling in some blanks.

hi pal, have you tried the scottishpeople's website?

if you go to births and baptisms and put in your james from 1/1/1710 to 31/12/1720 and all parishes,  it comes up with 12

maybe worth a look
