1881 Census check please Kitson
« on: Saturday 17 March 07 21:45 GMT (UK) »
Hello(again ::))
Would it be possible for someone to look at the original 1881 census of Bradford to check if the Annie U Kitson, age 2,could perhaps be Annie E?
The reference is 4439/49 page 26.
If it is Annie E, I would be truly grateful if she could be traced through to the 1901.she (if I have the right one)didn't marry until 1904,so should still be single.
Thanks in anticipation
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

She looks like Annie M to me  :P

(and indeed she's Annie M in 1891 as well ...)

Hi Winston
The short answer to that is "I do not know" ???
She married Joseph Kitcheman in Sept 1904 according to Free BMD in Bradford,Yorkshire.Joseph was born in 1873,in Bradford,so I am just guessing her age as well. Her name is Annie Ellen Kitson, but I couldn't find a birth & there are so many Annie E's,let alone Annie.Their son ,Edgar was  born in  N Bierley,Yorks. That is how I got her surname.
Thanks for your interest  ;) 1881 census is the only one I can look at for now.

HI Barbara

I think then you may need to order the marriage cert to confirm her fathers name - if she knew him that is.

I take it you have been following the Grooms side of the family to know where he was through the census?

Was there any occupation shown for Annie E Kitch* nee Kitson on Edgars birth cert?

Thanks,Wendy,you are right.
The Marriage Certificate will have to be bought.I don't have Edgar's birth cert to hand because I'm actually trying to do this for his Grandson, who is traveling to Yorkshire in a week or two & he has got them.
He thought it would be just a matter of going into the record office & browsing through some books ::).If only ;D
I'll have to persuade him to part with some money & get that cert ,probably easier to do it from here (NZ) before he goes.
Yes, thanks,I found most of the previous generations as far back as 1841, with the help of a never-fail rootschatter ;D
I'm now trying to work out the parishes so that he can look at some of those.
Thanks very much
Barbara

This is just a thought as well as a question.

Do you know off hand, from the grandson of Edgar, what other named children that Joseph and Annie had just incase a Kitson can be found with an Annie who had sibling named the same as she named hers - do you see where I am going with this?

I think I am mumbling on here.

Not mumbling on at all Wendy ;D Or, if you are, then I have been doing the same.Names, occupations & intuition have got me this far as it is ;)
Yes,I am going to drop off the stuff I have found today or tomorrow & will ask the very same question. He may not know it because I think his Mum & Dad split up while he was a child & he doesn't see much of his Dad,who now lives in Sussex.
But I am going to encourage him strongly to see if those certs are already in his Father's posession,as well as chasing up any living Great Aunts, if there are any.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of information for him on the IGI,but I was going to suggest he looks at parish records for the area his family lived.I'm not much help in that department, never having been to Yorkshire.
Still, the people at the record office may be able to point him in the right direction.Though,I'm wondering if the library might be a better option?I'll tell him to look at things we can't access from here, like newspapers, old phone books etc.
Thanks for your help
Barbara
