Kemp lookup in Warwickshire
« on: Wednesday 21 March 07 09:59 GMT (UK) »
1861 and especially 1871 lookup needed for William Kemp born Ryton On Dunsmore, Warwickshire.
In 1851 he was aged 39, a Brickmaker, with wife Elizabeth 41, born Rowington, and had children George 7, Joseph 5, Edward 4 and Peter 2.
I believe the family would be in the Stretton On Dunsmore/Ryton On Dunsmore area.
Any information would be much appreciated.
Al

I believe young Thomas dies before 1871. Peter and Edward can be seen on later census. Peter is in Yorkshire by 1871 - can't spot Edward.

I see a possible death for Elizabeth in March 1867 Rugby.

Leaves William... The only one I can see is

RG10/1296 79 19
Sandhurst, Berkshire
Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum

William Kemp, Inmate, wid, 58? (could be 68), Ribbon Weaver, b. Ryton Warwickshire - Lunatic

Not 100% convinced  ::)

Superb stuff Tati. You are right about Broadmoor entry as I have him there in 1881 when he was discribed as brickmaker which he was in earlier life. I wanted the '71 mostly to see if he was in Broadmoor at that point. I shall next have to find the reason why if at all possible. He was aged 58 in '71.
Many thanks again for your time and effort, very much appreciated.
Al

Forgot to say that Edward was married in 1868 and looking at birthplaces of children he would be in Stretton On Dunsmore area in 1871.

Hi,

I found this entry whch may be Edward,

1871  RG10/3201  f.80  p.9  St Mary, Warwickshire
District County Prison

E K    Prisoner     Mar    male    22    Brickmaker    Princethorpe Warwick

I had a quick look for a male with the initials E K born abt.1848 in Princethorpe, in the 1851 and 1861 census and I can only find Edward KEMP  :)

Regards
Daisy
