Nope, I have looked again trying variations of both Michael and longstaff but can find nothing for a 60 year old innkeeper. Even tried all Michaels in Auckland.

How exactly does his name appear on your index.

I believe I have an interest in the Longstaff family living in Newgate St Bishop Auckland at the 1841 Census.Unless I am mistaken Michael and Mary (Dawson) were the parents of John Longstaff b3 Oct.1810 amongst others. This John married Mary Todd. They went to USA for a number of years but came to Australia 1853.
I would like to know of your interest.
