Please help with discharge info ww2
« on: Thursday 29 March 07 09:40 BST (UK) »
Hello team,
I have a request for information about WW2 discharge....
This is what was passed on to me...after being retreaved from the archives...can you help my friend?

"I have learned that my father was in the Royal Engineers and (as I already knew but had no dates) he was posted to the Middle East (Egypt) and then evacuated out to South Africa. He was discharged medically unfit under some act ( para 390 (xvi) of KRS 1940). I am trying to find out what that means? What was his disability? He went in A1 fit. I knew him when I was a young child and he was physically OK then, but I knew that he had spent some time in a hospital in Liverpool. "

Thankyou,
Jo

in WW1, the kings regulation relating to discharge was KR392 (as opposed to 390) and section 16 was "No longer physically fit for service"

Kings Regulations Para 390 (xvi) could possibly mean "Ceasing to fulfil physical requirements"

The only real way to find out exactly what his disability was would be to obtain his service record.
