Hi Oliver, yes i am happy for you to see the documents. Especially if you are a descendant. I would rather they went to someone who is related to these people. It just feels they belong to descendants and not me. I just wonder why the original poster was interested. Was she in anyway connected to this family too. But she hasn't as yet got back to me. Someone has said they have emailed  her. Maybe leave this a few days and if no response i will sort something out with you. Is that ok?

I am not related but have some info.

Samuel did not marry Catherine Harvey from what I can see.

Marriage;
12 Mar 1781, Holy Trinity, Colchester, Essex
Samuel CRACKANTHORP Bachelor of St Leonard Parish
Catherine SMYTH Spinster
Winesses Charlotte and Charles Smyth
Licence. Both signed. Seax D-P 323-1-3
(Source FreeREG)

Charles/Charlotte seem to be a married couple as there are Bapts Colchester to them 1780/1781/1784

Charles likely a Brother of Catherine as her and Samuel name a Son Charles.

There's also a Marriage Licence bond and allegation of Samuel Crakanthorpe and Catharine Smythe in 1781.

Thanks for that  - yes nearly every other tree that I've found lists Catherine's surname as Harvey, but the evidence is quite clearly Smythe. Her eldest son was called Harvey, born in 1783.

What I am looking for are records of Catherine's daughter, also Catherine, who in 1806 married George Hart, a brewer from Norfolk, who settled and raised a family in Woodbridge, Suffolk, before moving to Earls Colne and Braintree.

Any leads most welcome!

Thanks

Oliver

I suppose you've seen the will of Samuel Crakanthorp of Norwich, gent, in 1821? He mentions his daughter Catherine the wife of George Hart.

Good find Vance Mead re Will.
It also mentions Daug Harriott who is a Spinster at the time.

This appears to be her Marriage;
15 Nov 1821, St Peter Hungate, Norwich, Norfolk
Harriet CRAKANTHORP to Samuel COLMAN
Bachelor/Spinster
Samuel of St Clement
(FreeREG)

They Bapt 4 children Norwich, one who I feel has been mistranscribed on FreeREG as Samuel Oakenthorp COLMAN

1851 in Wymondham, Norfolk;
Saml Colman   69 Engineer/Surveyor
Harriet Colman   60  born Essex, Colchester
They are living with 3 of their unm children.
