Assize records are held at The National Archives

Hi Diddyee

I've tried the google bit (usually my first option)  - couldn't find what I wanted

Thanks Valda

I always have great difficulty finding anything with a national archives search but I will read the details. Unless the information is online - it's a long trip from Australia!

No idea what you mean - I am looking for the original records from the assizes - not the interpretation of a 3rd party - I already have that. It appears I will need information from Kew

thanks

Assize records comes in lots of different bundles and not usually paper which means they can't be photocopied - they have to be scanned. The different parts of the same assize records are in different bundles.
It would be a massive job to try and film many of the documents at The National Archives they just don't come in modern A4 paper size - they don't even easily unroll.

These aren't assize records and they are C17th not C18th but they give you an indication of the difficulties of trying to put similar looking records online and still being able to read anything.
