The Online Parish Clerk for Tysoe may be able to help you, you will find him on

There are certainly people of that name on the M.I.s as you will see

Hi
Just come across your post. Do you have source for this 1623 birth. There are Thomas entries 1621 (son of Thomas) and 1633/4 (son of Edward) in Parish Register. Trying to find source as one would have been my ancestor.
Thanks

Hi Bradwell,

I do not have a source for dob but I do have his occupation as a blacksmith, but looking on Legacy, I stupidly did not record my source for his occupation. If you come up with anything, I would be grateful of any updates. Anne Hewins was my 9x G/Grandmother, married to John Hancock (maternal line)

Not sure what database Legacy is - perhaps could you clarify.

Seems to be a lot of 'Indexes' out there without names primary sources. Occupations were not shown in the Tysoe Parish Register at this time so unsure where that comes from.

Will have to keep digging.

Thanks

Have now managed to piece together my Hewens ancestors using wills held at Worcester. Thomas bc 1600 who married Anne Tomkins was a son of Simon - he is mentioned in Simon’s 1648 will.

Simon in turn was eldest surviving son of Humphrey, and is mentioned in Humphrey’s 1619 will. Simon appears to be the eldest son, and as the earliest child of Humphrey’s recorded in the Tysoe register is Elizabeth when the parish register begins, then Simon must have been born before then.

Humphrey was a blacksmith, and wills show the eldest son inheriting tools an£ workshops into the early 1700s.

Suggest that John Hewins, son of Thomas Hewins, husbandman of Tosey [maybe Tysoe], Warwickshire who was apprenticed to Edward Tomkins Citizen and Joyner of London on 7 Nov 1671 may be Tomkins' nephew and that Tomkins was the brother of Ann Tomkins of Tysoe, the wife of Thomas Hewens/Hewins.

Very interesting. Have traced a number of Tysoe family apprenticeships in London, but not this one. Do you have a source? Thanks
