Hi,
Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to read this message.
In my "tree" I have an Agnes C NELSON b. c1850, Little Denham, Norfolk.
This I've gleaned from the 1881 census.
At that time, she was living in The Vicarage, Lyneham, Wiltshire with her parents John NELSON, Vicar of Bradenstoke, and his wife, Mary O NELSON.
The entry reads;
John NELSON Head M Male 71 East Deham, Norfolk, Vicar of Bradenstoke
Mary O NELSON Wife Female 60 Great Ryburg (sic), Norfolk, Wife of Vicar
Agnes C NELSON Dau U Female 31 Little Denham, Norfolk, Daughter of Vicar
Arthur H NELSON Son/Visitor M Male 32 Little Denham, Norfolk, Son of Vicar
Margaret E NELSON Grand Daughter Female 12 British Subject, India, Grandchild of Vicar
Edith M NELSON Grand Daughter Female 12 British Subject, India, Grandchild of Vicar
Annie BATCH Cook U Female 22 Corsham Cook
Ellen Croker Servant U Female 18 Lacock Housemaid
I've found that in both 1845 and 1854 the Rev. John NELSON was the incumbant vicar of St Margaret's in Little Dunham, Norfolk having been born at Beeston.
In the same parish, a Wm. NELSON had left 10 shillings per year, since 1772, for the poor.
I'm assuming Wm. NELSON was possibly John's Grandfather.
Now my BIG request.......could someone please have a look for John Nelson through previous censuses, from 1841 onwards???
If I'm honest I would like there to be a connection to THE Nelson family, especially with the links to the church, however, I very much doubt it!!!!!
Many thanks, in advance.
Carol
