A photograph for me too please - 3rd greats Stephen & Esther Read would be top of my list.

I've plumped for a photo. A couple of months ago I discovered a new "cuz" , part of a brick wall I and another cousin have been chipping away at for a couple of years. Anyway, it turns out his ggm was the surviving sister of my gggm, and she had photos, portraits, silhouettes of family going back to the mid 1700s. Nearly 100 all in all. He photographed them , put them onto CD, and sent them on. They are invaluable.

Brick walls are frustrating, but part of the challenge of this pastime. Wills, medals etc. are nice to have, but can be ordered, to a certain extent (although I'm proud of my grandfathers WWII medals).

Names to faces seems to sum it up for me.

A really old diary would be amazing......especially if it was quite detailed and told me about their everyday 'goings on' ........ although a photograph is a close second choice !

Honestly, I would just give anything to find a living relative for the Birchalls in England who could help me out...or even a relative of Catherine Kearns, who could help me with her side of my family.
