Elizabeth E Tait nee Harrison-completed
« on: Saturday 07 April 07 11:07 BST (UK) »
I'm having problems in regard to my paternal great- grandparents.
I've found my great-grandmother Elizabeth E Tait [born 1859 in Redmarshall Durham] in the 1901 census living at Stockton on Tees with 4 children [one of which is my grandmother Hilda]. I've confirmed that Elizabeth E Harrison married William Tait in 1896 in Stockton. I've found Elizabeth E Harrison [born circa 1859 in Redmarshall Durham] in the 1861; 1871; and 1881 census records but can't find her in 1891.
Also my great-grandfather William Tait who was either a fireman or a marine engineer or a shipwright doesn't seem to be in either the 1891 or 1901 census. His son, from a previous marriage Charles A Tait appears in the 1891 census but appears to have been in the equivalent of childcare with non related people.
Any help / guidance would be much appreciated.

The indications are that William is around somewhere in 1901 as Elizabeth, albeit 'Head', is shown as married. Probably he was away with his job .... should be somewhere - any idea of his age etc ?

I'll have a look at 1891 for Elizabeth before marriage ...

Probably her - despite being economical with the truth about her age !

The middle initial is moot, looking at the image .........

Hi
Thanks for the information.
Unfortunately I don't have a date of birth for William Tait.
Looks like I'll have to order the marriage certificate.

Hi
I've closed off this strand of my research as I've decided to bite the bullet and order the relevant certificates.
Thanks folks for your time and assistance, it's been greatly appreciated.
