I am presently researching our family history and believe I may be connected to the notebook.See... http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hadfield/chart_edale.htm

I would be happy just to view content of the notebook if possible. It may contain proof of our relative connection to Octavius Hadfield Bishop of New Zealand
Thank You.

As mentioned on this thread, http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=263812.new;topicseen#new, when I received the book I scanned it and put the scans on a CD which I sent to David Hadfield in Australia who runs a free web site dedicated to publishing details of various Hadfield lines - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hadfield/.

David transcribed the book, keeping faith with the way it was originally written (i.e. as one would with a MI) and, at the time, offered to send a copy of the transcript to people who contacted him. David has since moved address so I don't know if he is still in a position to send copies. However, I have a PDF copy of the transcript and will happily send it to anyone who contacts me by PM with their e-mail address.

Graham
I am unable to make contact with David Hadfield for a copy of the Hadfield Family Notebook and I am hoping you can help me to fill in some missing gaps in our family Tree. All the best. Deane Hadfield Napier New Zealand.

Wow.
After a fair time has elapsed since I found the book in a pile of items about to be thrown away by a London solicitor, I'm really pleased that the Hadfield family has been able to link it back into their families.
It makes you wonder how many other valuable items get simply discarded when they could be of so much value to family historians. :(

Through lack of time I haven't the opportunity to pursue my research much these days and, as a result, haven't been on Rootschat for a good while.

I still have the transcript safely filed away though and have sent a PDF copy to Deane just now.

So, that chance find all those years ago is still going strong Roger  :)

Hi, I am researching my family tree and it goes back as far as a Joseph Hadfield of Castleton, but no further. He was married to a Dorothy Hadfield.

We have always been in this area of the peaks so I suspect there may be some useful information in the hand written account of the family.

We are under the line of Robert Hadfield via Issac, does this ring any bells in the text?

In view of the fact that interest in the notebook has re-emerged, but David is no longer able to supply transcripts, I have created a page on my own web site which displays the scanned images of the original book with a link to the PDF transcript for download.

The address of the page is http://www.gjh.me.uk/edale/edale.htm

Hopefully people will find it useful.

Hi Marzarhad
I've recently started researching my family tree and can also trace back to Joseph Hadfield of Castleton b.1760 married to Dorothy. Then down thru sons Robert to Isaac to Joe (my GG) who married Sarah.

Hi to whomever it may concern,
My name is Martin Hadfield, currently of Lancashire, and I may have some connection to the articles spoken above, my descendants were from Derbyshire and I have a long lin3 of hadfield dating back to the 1700s, I would love to see if the family history mentioned above includes the men in my line of the family, any replies would be much appreciated!
